MN State Fair

It is MN State Fair time! A key start to the fair day is our traditional 5K Milk run. It was especially exciting because it was Karl's first 5K race and he was awesome! 7 years old and running 3+ miles! I am a very proud auntie! Unfortunately, Justin was sick so Jason stayed home with him and Adam.



After the run we made our way to Kidway for rides and sampled yummy mini doughnuts and Sweet Martha cookies.



As we were wrapping up our session of rides, Colin takes a good wipe-out on the slippery pebble ground and winds up with an owie on his hand. (keep in mind any sight of blood and he goes a bit hysterical). This seemed like a great time to head home but not before I got a Mommy and Colin picture at the Great MN Get Together.

Jason's Birthday O' Fun

Last Saturday, Jason turned 37! and we celebrated with a day full of fun with our boys. The morning started with a new recipe I wanted to try for homemade coffee cake. It was OK but the box version is faster, easier, and tastes better. Mid morning we headed to the greens for some mini golf. Colin is getting to be quite the putting pro, Justin played along for the first few holes then quickly discovered it is more fun and easier to throw the golf ball at the hole, and Adam followed us along the course in his stroller peacefully entertaining himself and sucking his thumb like the perfect little boy he always is.



After a LeeAnn Chin lunch and naps it was time for Colin's smoothie experiment and birthday cake from Target. Colin loves to mix foods and create interesting food experiments. Smoothies provide lots of fun creations.



The birthday finale was an evening at the Dome to watch Vikings Football! It was Justin's first Vikings game and we had awesome seats in the lower level. My Mom got lots of good snuggle time with Adam and we all had a blast at the game with face painting, corn dogs, and Skol Vikings songs. The Vikings must have known it was Jason's birthday as the game was the perfect gift for this birthday guy!

Bunker Beach

This past Wednesday we met the Meissners for some outdoor water park fun at Bunker Beach. It is the largest outdoor water park in MN and wow, is it awesome! Colin got to try out a wave pool which entails standing in a pool with artificially generated waves and jumping/crashing through them. Bunker Beach was lots of fun and I'm sure it will be a Summer tradition. Who knew there were so many fun water parks in the twin cities? :)

Lovin' the Lake

Darin and Tamara have rented a place on Ballantyne Lake and last weekend we had a blast with them on the water. The boys got to use the paddle boat, fishing, boat rides with Colin tubing, campfire with s'mores, and playing with the puppies the next day. It really was a great weekend! Thanks Darin, Tamara, Tabor, Tanner, and Dalton for being such great hosts and letting us stay at your place! I'm not sure I'm ready to get a cabin but definitely looking into a timeshare somewhere for a week. :)

Adam Giggles

4 Month Update

4 months old and Summer is quickly coming to an end. It has been quite an exciting month for our adorable little Adam. The biggest excitement is that he is sleeping through the night and not just 8 hours but a full 12 hours! He will still occasionally wake during the night but quickly discovers his thumb. I tried to convince him the nuk was better but he seems to prefer the convenience of that handy thumb. :)

He is also able to roll from his back to his tummy. His neck is so much stronger which is nice not to have have such a wobbly noodle when holding him. His eyes have definitely changed to a nice rich shade of brown which makes mommy so proud. We also had another ultrasound of that kidney and everything is looking great. Yay!

Daycare is going great. He is really liking his exersaucer and sitting in his bumbo or highchair at night for dinners. He is still a great snuggle bug and we all have to take turns as we love Adam cuddle time. Love you, Adam!

Colin's Summer Sports

This Summer Colin played both soccer and t-ball. He is quite the athlete and so much fun to watch play sports. What we are most proud of, though, is that he is such a team player. For example, the best goal of the season came in the last game. Colin had a break away all by himself, waited for his teammate to catch up, passed the ball and his teammate scored the goal. To see a 5 year old show such selflessness made us so proud. Sitting outside cheering on these kids was the perfect way to spend our early Summer evenings.
