Children's Theater

Today we went to the Children's Theater and saw the matinee production of "Bert and Ernie." This was the first time any of us have been to the Children's Theater and we are going to have to go back for many more plays. It was such a cute production. Colin laughed throughout the show and even Justin was captivated throughout most of the play. What a great afternoon!

10 Month Update

Fall is starting and Justin is 10 months old! Another top tooth has appeared with a total of 4--two on top and two on bottom. "Ma Ma" has finally become part of his vocabulary along with "Ba" and "Na." He is scooting around furniture no problem and still definitely prefers crawling as his mode of getting around. Thankfully there has been no ear infections this month! Yea!

Book Fair & Wyatt's Birthday

Summer may be unofficially over but we still have lots of fun busy weekends. :) Yesterday we met up with Matt, Deborah, and family at the Target book fair. It was beautiful weather and the kids had a blast together as always. Colin is very proud of his new books, loved the inflatable Jumper, and wore himself out dancing to all the great music.



At the book fair they bring in various authors and kids bands. Some of my favorites this year included Hip Hop Harry, Choo Choo Soul and my ultimate favorite.. Justin Roberts!



This is the crew at the beginning of the afternoon and this is a picture of how everyone felt after a long day of fun. And lastly there is a video of Colin and Karl dancing and "jumping around."



On Sunday we were at Dan and Peggy's place to celebrate Wyatt's first birthday. Wyatt is only a few months older than Justin so we think it is especially fun to have a cousin so close in age. It was another beautiful day with great food, time with family, and lots of cute Wyatt photo opportunities.

Gooseberry Falls

This past weekend we took the boys camping for the first time. I was in full bliss mode! It was a fabulous camping experience. The boys were great, we had gorgeous warm sunny weather, and the most perfect campsite and hiking trails. We left early Sunday morning and stopped for lunch at World Famous Betty's Pies. It was a very tasty lunch and the pies definitely lived up to the hype. We had a slice of raspberry rhubarb crunch, and toffee cream pie and they were heavenly.



We then headed to Gooseberry Falls and did some hiking. The Middle and Lower Falls are at the beginning of the trail so it made for a fun start to our hike. The trail goes on for about a mile and follows the Gooseberry River to the spectacular Lake Superior. We took a break there and had fun skipping rocks and exploring agate beach. Justin took a nice nap in the Bjorn on the hike back to the truck and then we were off to set up camp.



Our campsite was at Split Rock Lighthouse State Park just seven miles North of Gooseberry Falls. It was awesome! We had an amazing site that overlooked Lake Superior. Colin had fun helping Jason set up the tents and initially was set on sleeping in his own tent. That decision quickly turned into "I think I'll sleep in your tent" once it became dark out. "Luckily" we already set up an air mattress for him in our tent :). It was so much fun to have a campfire, grill supper, make smores and campfire apple pies. We really enjoyed our morning on the lake. Colin loved throwing rocks in Lake Superior and Justin napped in my arms as we sat on rocks that overlooked the water. It was so beautiful and peaceful.



Mid morning we took a tour of the famous lighthouse on Split Rock. It was interesting to learn the history of the lighthouse and it provided beautiful views of Lake Superior. On the way home we stopped at Mike and Lamiae's house and had a wonderful afternoon with them and Matt, Deborah, Laura, and Karl. It was a fan-tab-u-lous Labor day weekend!

Vikings

Thanks to a co-worker giving me his season tickets to the last pre-season game I got to take Colin to the Vikings last Friday evening. He was very excited to see his favorite player Adrian Peterson who "runs to fast for the other people to tackle him". I didn't have the heart to tell him that he wasn't even playing that game so good thing anyone wearing a purple jersey could pass as Peterson to a 3 year old. We had a blast! Colin got his face painted and his favorite part of the pre-game (probably favorite over all) was watching all the light rail trains. We stayed for only the first half so when we left we had a Vikings victory. In addition to all the tackling Colin loved the fireworks and smoke when the players came out of the tunnel/Vikings ship, the girls in the pretty dresses that danced (aka cheerleaders), and of course the ice cream treat.
