Mini Golf

During the Summer I have Thursdays off from work so Jason will often day a vacation day and join us for a day o' fun. This past Thursday we took the boys mini golfing. It was lots of fun, and the boys are quite the impressive putters. It was very exciting to see Adam's improvement. The last time we went mini golfing was for Jason's birthday last August. Adam mostly threw the ball and wandered the course. This time he played all 18 holes and followed along like such a big kid!! Justin had the shot of the day landing a hole in one on the last hole earning him a free game of golf. Awesome! :)

Time to Fly 5K

This weekend Colin ran his first 5K in the Time to Fly event to raise funding for childhood cancer research. He was AWESOME!! The plan was to run with Aunt Deborah and cousin Karl, but unfortunately Deborah got sick with strep throat and couldn't run. The first mile we battled crowds and crowds of people setting a 9 minute pace. We kept the pace steady with another 9 minute mile, and then Colin decided he was feeling good. He loves hills and wouldn't you know there was a small hill at mile 2. He tackled the hill and never looked back finishing with a sub 8 minute last mile and final time of 25:54. I was not able to keep up with my my speedster on that hill so I told him to go ahead and finish strong. My 8 year old is faster than me, but I told him to just wait til Daddy is allowed to run. Then we can really test his speed endurance. :) For now I think it awfully sweet he and I can go running together.

After the 5K finished up the 3 boys did the kids race. The kids race was a bit chaotic. The event actually had to relocated due to all the rain so the kids run ended up being about 1/4 mile along a bike trail. Justin was a speedster just steps behind Colin. We thought Adam would do the run, but he ended up being carried by Jason. There were just so many kids I think he got a bit scared of all the people. He lined up in a ready stance but after the start he was quickly in the safety of daddy's arms. It was a fun morning!

Father's Day Weekend

It was a fabulous Father's Day weekend back in North Dakota with Jason's folks. The North Dakota wind was a howlin' but we still managed to get in lots of outdoor fun.

MN Zoo--Buggy Bugs!

Jason took the day off so we had a fun day with the boys at the MN Zoo today. They have a new Summer exhibit displaying several giant moving mechanical bugs! The boys thought it was very cool and even let me take picture after picture after picture of them with all those buggy bugs! What a great day!

Valentine Hills Roadrunner Fun Run

Yesterday morning we participated in the first annual Roadrunner Fun Run at Colin's elementary school. I started the morning running in the 5K with my good friends, Amber and Sarah. It was a bit humid but we had a great run going through the neighborhoods of Arden Hills. Next off was Colin in the kids 1 mile. He rocked it coming in only a few seconds behind his soccer buddy. The kids did 3 laps and you could tell they were a bit excited as they all started the run off at a full out sprint. Colin kept pace as the leader and had a great stride and stellar form finishing with a time of 6:42! The event ended with a 2 mile Family run. Adam loved that he got to ride his tricycle. Justin was the impressive one this time running for most of the 2 miles and looking cool and comfortable the entire time. We all had a lot of fun and hope they continue it in the upcoming years.

Grandma Ruby's 90th Birthday Party

Last weekend we were back in North Dakota to celebrate Grandma Ruby's 90th birthday! She is doing great and is loved by so many people! Happy 90th, Grandma Ruby!
